Contentment is True Wealth
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on March 29th, 2009
Contentment is essential in man’s life, however rich one may be he would not be happy without contentment. It requires a lot of efforts to satisfy ones desire. Even if the object is attained it is even more difficult to retain it. Inspite of all this there is still no happiness. If the object attained is lost, then there is misery again.
Hence we must not be piling up desire over more desire. In ancient ages rishis were living in forests without basic amenities, they could do so because of their contentment.
Lord Shiva is described to be riding a bull wearing tiger skin with ash smeared all over his body, this signifyes detachment from sensual pleasures. However rich a man is he should try and remain as simple as possbile in every way, only then he will be happy.
If wealth comes automatically to us, it must be spent on good purposes usefully and make ourselves pure. If askes who is rich and who is poor, the answer is “He who is contented is rich without desires, poor is that person who is not contented”
Therefore being content and happy should be primary objectives of life.
Faith is Important

The sastras mention different results (fruits) for different karma. Nowadays many people doubt if the sastras are correct because they have not attained the desired result.
Bhagvan in Gita says, Karma undertaken without faith will yield no result. If the desired result has not been obtained it means karma was not undertaken with faith. Is it right to condem or blame sastras merely because one has not got the desired result by performing karma without faith, when he should have ideally performed karma with faith.
Sastras are never at fault. It is only the absence of faith and dedication towards sastras and scriptures which is causing misery, and not yielding desired result. It is proper faith that is most needed.
Unshakable conviction in sastras and words of guru will yield the desired result. Activities performed with such faith will definitely yield results.
Puranas says Kings repead adverse results from yajna due to not performing required rituals in yajna with concentration and faith.
One has to perform karma by completely dedicating to sastras and guru vakya to obtain desired results. Only the one who remaining in proximity of the guru and takes guru’s initiations with utmost faith will attain jnana.
Hence faith is important aspect of human life.
Lets all attain grace by performing karma with carnestness.
Pride is Man’s First Enemy
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on February 14th, 2009
There are numerous reasons for man’s pride, wealth, power, erudition, knowledge and so on…However pride is man’s first enemy because of which he suffers a lot. He must realise this well. He/She keeps on doing misdeeds with a notion that nobody will question him. Such misbehavior will make him undergo lot of suffering. It is advisdable to shed pride which is base of all misery.
Shankaracharya says man should not be proud of his wealth, erudition, power, education and assests. Time will rob it all. None of it will last long.
However great men like Sri Bhagavatpada had no pride in them, that is why they were called mahapurushas. Man should never give room for pride behave with humility.
Fortune & Money - Vivekananda Says
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on February 2nd, 2009
Fortune is like a flirt; she cares not for him who wants her, but she is at the feet of him who does not care for her. Money comes and showers itself upon one who does not care for it; so does fame come in abundance until it is a trouble and a burden. They always come to the Master. The slave never gets anything. The Master is he who can live in spite of them, whose life does not depend upon the little, foolish things of the world.(Notes from a lecture Sadhanas or preparations for higher life)
Be Good - Do Not Harm Others
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on February 1st, 2009
This is the basic fundamental law of humanity similar to 1,2 ,3 decimal system in mathematics. We haven’t learnt this even after 100000s of years of civilization, surprising!! How come we need to tell this to each other even after so many years of evolution.
There is a clear evidence people that you get back whatever you give other people, yet people harm others. Nobody should make others suffer, if they do they would be subjected similar conditions in future or even worse. We have learnt this from mythological stories from Ramayana, Maharbharat to present day and even from our daily lives.
Looks like in our every day run of the mill life of TV, Shopping in Malls, Movies and making money goals, we seem to loose basics of humanity. Sad
Courage is needed to Face Hurdles
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on February 1st, 2009
Most of the time it is easy to take the simpler option when faced with hurdle, but courage is required to finish a good task, or even taking up a good task. Those who stand by rightousness and justice are ones who stand out of the crowd, they are the ones who will be rememberd and taken as example long after they cease to exist. They would continue to set example and live after they are gone. For others who choose to move along the tide will never reach glory.
To swim against tide needs courage, belief in truth and righteousness.
